After a very busy Christmas we’re back at the bench and primed with ideas and inspiration for a year full of creating new pieces of jewellery for our windows and sourcing new designers.
We would like to kick off 2016 with a huge thank you to all of our customers new and old for your support in 2015. We look forward to seeing you again soon and hope that everyone who found a gift from Wilkinson Goldsmiths under the tree was a very happy Christmas bunny indeed!
The 17 December 2015 was a very special day for us and Danielle and I received an early Christmas present – a new apprentice. We would like to introduce our son Arthur Kemsey Wilkinson, our first little one. He will be showing his face up and down Allandale Road and Francis Street in the coming months – pop in and say hello, if you’re passing. Currently Arthur’s favourite past times are sleeping, eating and going for a drive in daddy’s car, more updates will follow throughout the year. See a picture of Arthur, when he was a few days old in our image gallery below.
Just in time for the Stoneygate Christmas Market, on Sunday 29 November, we received our Christmas order from Aurum by Gudbjorg and filled our front window with an assortment of pendants, bracelets, earrings and necklaces from the Icelandic jewellery designer.
With Aurum’s quirky nuances and fine detail taking shape from Icelandic nature – the brand has proven immensely popular. Danielle is particular fond of the ‘Fold’ collection, which uses lava from Icelandic volcanoes, set in sterling silver. Each piece of lava is completely unique, with vesicles (air holes) varying in size and shape, elegantly alluding to tales of Iceland’s fiery existence, set on a divergent tectonic plate boundary. We are proud to be their only stockist in Leicestershire and look forward to introducing further collections throughout 2016.
Aurum will not be the only designer making a comeback, we want 2016 to be a year full of surprises – stay tuned weekly for further updates.
For now, adieu!
